Thread: Can only run unity-2d after graphics problems

earlier found when turned computer on kept trying start in low graphics mode, , couldn't start (sorry, no particularly useful info on why). did notice disk usage warning before i'd shut down, , dropping console freed space on home partition, , started using failsafe xorg.cong. i'd tried previous kernels, running fsck , nn nth time ubuntu started, , login...

...but unity-2d! additional drivers list amd driver running (manually installed using there instructions. these installed ages ago , i've not had problems since.

fglrxinfo reported

and still reading when trying start amd catalyst control

code:

there problem initializing catalyst control center linux edition.  caused following.    no amd graphics driver installed, or amd driver not functioning properly.  please install amd driver appropriate amd hardware, or configure using aticonfig.

sudo aticonfig --initial

fixed problem.
