if in wrong section, please let me know. had windows 7, on lenovo t61, became pretty long in tooth decided go ubuntu, had 12.10 , upgraded 13.04. i've fiddled around terminal, installed couple of programs using it, i'm still "absolute beginner," appreciate installing drivers missing, such webcam , bluetooth. i've heard of ndiswrapper, i've read need run sudo commands , have been warned careful when running sudo commands if don't know does/means. if give me step-by-step awesome.

to give idea of have please run these 2 commands , post output.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
