tried 10 times, can suggest step step? can't find specific issue.

mio pc characteristic:
cpu: amd a4 5300 2-core 3.4ghz socket fm2 1mb hd7480d 65w boxed
motherboard: e asus f2a85-m le socket fm2 amd a85x ddr3 sata3 usb3 matx
hard disk: western digital caviar blue 500gb 3.5'' 7200rpm 16mb sata3 wd5000aakx
ram: ddr3 g.skill sniper f3-14900cl9d-8gbsr 1866mhz (2x4gb) cl9-10-9-28

i made partition of 35gb ubuntu (where tried install few times, every time, different versions, different issues (audio, video etc...)), 35gb partition win 8 (it's working great), 7gb swap partition, rest ntfs shared data.

i've no cd reader, need usb ubuntu installation.

let's start beginning: ubuntu version suggest? gimme link, better torrent or direct? tool, bootable usb key generation?

recommend 12.04 lts ubuntu release since supported 5 years, depends of want, suggest link: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop more inforamtion. links download isos, depends on speed of internet connection. have 30 mb wifi , can download 700 mb iso in no more 10 minutes.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
