Thread: Realtek 8111/8186 on GA-990FXA-UD3r3 won't connect to gateway

stop me if heard one....

built computer month ago using gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 rev 3 motherboard.
put in windows 7 64 bit professional. everthing went well, not problem.

decided go ahead , install ubuntu 12.10. i've read online, wasn't faint of heart among own ga-990fxa-ud3 did anyway.

big suprise, wired network won't connect. tries, doesn't connection. disables, tries again.

have done following steps no success

• i have swapped out seemingly faulty r8169.ko , replaced r8168.ko available here.
• i've tried every method directed in readme in tarball, various methods mentioned elsewhere on web.
• i've attempted reboot unplugging machine wall bit.
• i have tried installing 12.04
• i managed find old netgear wg111 usb adapter , got work giving me internet. did clean install of ubuntu network connection (preivious installs did not have network connection), updated system upon first boot. fyi: after update ethernet still using r8169 updated r8168.
• i've set ipv6 "ignore"
• i've attempted

• i have tried using alternatives default network manager wicd

stll result same. wired network attempts connect, fails, pop states "wired network disconnected" tries again.

when unplug cable network port, detect it's been disconnected , discontinues cycle of attempting connect.

have manually put in connection details network configuration, said connected had no network access.

i've edited etc/network/interfaces , put in following lines

when rebooted splash screen comes , tells me waiting network connection. never finds 1 , boots without network connection (wireless or wired) nor can configure until comment or remove eth0 lines , reboot.

win 7 64 pro install on same machine using same cable able connect no problem.

have playstation 3 wired same gateway , connects no problem.

have 2 laptops, 2 android smartphones, , win764pro machine connect, no problem, wireless, same gateway (a motorola sbg6480 d3 cable gateway).

in fact had older machine had ubuntu 12.04 on , able connect same gateway months ago.

detail? i'm in technical support tend answer questions before asked speaking of which..

common problem know, may related.. networking stop , restart command lines crash ubuntu in case.

looks componant using correct driver.

after scouring net i've tried everything, assistance appreciated. i'd rather not switch flavors, , since giving me headache natural inclination per occupation take issue horns , figure out solution rather cast on trash heap. community guy i'd beable compile solutions in order make motherboard work others have such aspirations.

well in update ive disabled of power saving , sleep options on win 7, , attempted engage wol on mobo.. same result.
