Printing problems -- PDFs

just lately have come across perplexing problem printing pdf documents.

 

i error stating because want duplex print paper size i've selected not supported. have not selected odd size of paper--just regular letter size.

 

i've changed setting tried printing 1 page , document prints rear tray of cannon printer (something didn't indicate either). output 1/10 of entire page wanted printed -- in other words fraction of page , centered in upper middle of page.

 

i've contacted cannon service techs , cannot figure out problem. instructed me download latest printer driver didn't help. downloaded latest adobe reader same frustrating result.

 

but, craziest things printing problem can go different computer in household -- 1 has older os , older adobe reader , can duplex print without problems.

 

the laptop i'm using macbook version 10.7.5. i've tried both reader 9 , reader xi.

 

any or suggestions apprciated. thanks!!

i found answer myself!

 

when opened pdf document in "preview" instead of using adobe reader, able print without problem.

 

apparently there in adobe print function not working correctly. can fixed sometime; otherwise, i'll use "preview" exclusively.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
