moved own thread here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2136920
please not highjack another's thread. boot issues unique , issue lot different, not op.
looks installed in bios mode not uefi , 24gb ssd became mbr(msdos) not gpt.
not think can boot ubuntu in mbr drive though boot-repair has added efi boot entry efi partition on sda.
manually partition sdb , include efi partition @ beginning of drive. may not used, best have on every gpt drive. reinstall in uefi mode. few systems not let install in uefi mode, if 1 can reinstall ubuntu boot in bios mode gpt partitioned drives, conversion boot-repair should work. may have undo renaming boot-repair did efi partition first , windows booting again.
see last couple of lines on undo:
boot-repair - updated jan 1, 2013 not rename first time, rename if first time windows not boot. post 706 , 711
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...769482&page=71
boot-repair copied /efi/ubuntu/grubx64.efi /efi/boot/bootx64.efi (in case bios hard-coded boot /efi/boot/bootx64.efi or secure boot signed grub file shimx64.efi.
renamed files:
/efi/boot/bkpbootx64.efi
/efi/microsoft/boot/bkpbootmgfw.efi
perform this, run boot-repair --> adv options --> tick "backup , rename efi files" --> apply
reboot pc uefi/bios , chose ubuntu, , please tell observe.
please enable secureboot in bios, run boot-repair --> advanced options --> "grub options" tab --> tick "secureboot" --> apply.
undo & rename files original names, need tick "restore efi backups" option of boot-repair.
user disabled secure boot, , unchecked in boot-repair. bypasses grub , goes straight in windows.
