Thread: Ubuntu Server 12.04.2 Install Blank Screen

hey all.

i've seen several posts this, either i'm applying fixes incorrectly or fixes didn't work.

i'm trying install ubuntu server 12.04.2 flash drive. point i'm booting off flash drive , "install ubuntu server," or "install in expert mode," etc. screen. hit "install ubuntu server," , blank screen (i've let sit half hour). edited grub entry install line, default holds (note i'm typing out hand; forgive typos):

setparams 'install ubuntu server'  set gfxpayload=keep linux /install/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed quiet -- initrd /install/initrd.gz
i updated include nomodeset option (seems fix blank screen issues according numerous forum posts):

nothing changed: still had black screen when hit f10 boot. tried:

setparams 'install ubuntu server'  set gfxpayload=keep linux /install/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed quiet vga=771 -- initrd /install/initrd.gz
with no changes. ideas?

im having exact same problem , cant seem fix ether , tried options.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
