i use 1 catalogue for my whole library of photos iin lr5. backup question.

all photos located on external drives , backed on nas server.  use 1 catalogue in lightroom 5 of personal , work photos.  

updating mavericks destroyed use of calendar tool on mac pro.  apple cannot figure out , has suggested have reinstall after spending hours support on phone.  concerned endless work , changes have made photos.  there step step flowchart somewhre anywhere wouldshow me need preserve in lightroom.  u can imagine, there lots.  backup catalogue file 2 gigs.  appreciated.

i don't know of step-by-step, not difficult

 

make backups of catalog file, photos , presets , optionally preferences file. reinstall operating system. restore exact same location in before. words exact same location capitalized because important.

 

side note: should have backups of these items anyway, if don't, ought start making regular backups of of these things.
