Problems with thumbnails, etc.

yesterday installed elements 12 , premiere.  opened elements, selected import, , imported jpeg photos/raw photos sony rx10 , nikon d700 on card.  thumbnail pics won't show when click on hourglass photo opens up.  i"m on imac, not technically oriented , use help.  @ point i'm not sure do.

please try right clicking on file > update thumbnail

if problem still perisists, please go > system info , go location of catalog mentioned in system info.

there find "thumbs.5.cache" file, rename "thumbs.5.cache_old"

now relaunch application , see if thumbnails generated now.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
