How do I unlock an InDesign CC file that thinks it is still open?

my team works on directly on server macs running both lion , mountain lion , adobe cc. indesign crashes , leaves file in open state , renders file unable open, copy or duplicate. previous versions of indesign @ least allow copy file thought still open. cc cannot file. deleting .ldlk file in terminal not release file. know protection, killing files.
