Fake Java Update Crashes Illustrator in CS6

normally cautious fellow, albeit in rush finish deadline yesterday,  opened adobe illustrator app  and  pop-up appeared looked genuine notice java update software. erroneously thinking app needed (because updated maverick on mac) clicked out of way. illustrator crashed immediately. spent hours trying fix it. re-installing illustrator did not help. finally, checked illustrator plug-ins folder , sure enough—there innocent looking plug-in called "subscribe.aip." trashed , illustrator started right up. aware fellow graphic designers—this new fake java update nasty one.

fake java update? subscribe free plugin astute graphics, not rogue java install. sure @ point didn't install plugin? or notice not update it? java update not install subscribe if never had. subscribe may ask update release new versions.

 

this incident sounds strange?
