Thread: HP printer error 'filter failed'

i new ubuntu , limited in experience , troubleshooting skills have been using ubuntu 12.10 month or , while have had problems there haven't been printing problems once had hp photosmart b210 working wirelessly. until today. nothing changed in settings, error message 'filter failed' , printing doesn't work. tried print hard wired , doesn't work either. i've looked on line , haven't found in form of thought try forum. hopefully, can shed light on going on , need do.

or guidance can give appreciated.

look in /var/log/cups clues problem. create printer different name , see if prints. if works, delete old printer. print queues messed , way fix them delete , create new printer.

printer needs reset. try unplugging 10 minutes.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
