just installed ubuntu 12.10 on toshiba portege r100, machine uses trident driver. i'm using gdm. ideas? here messages got syslog:

gdm-simple-greeter[1339]: gtk-warning: overriding tab label notebook.
[then "last message repeated 4 times"]
gdm-simple-greeter[1339]: gtk-critical: gtk_style_context_set_path: assertion 'priv->widget == null' failed
gdm-simple-greeter[1339]: gtk-critical: gtk_style_context_set_path: assertion 'priv->widget == null' failed
gdm-simple-slave[946]: warning: failed remove slave program access display. trying proceed.

please review "video" section of 12.10 release notes.

determine model of trident gpu, , post if still have questions.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
