Tolerance dialogue missing on "make work path from selection"

i trying convert 1-color drawing path can put illustrator. use magic wand select edges , nice tight fit. when select "make work path selection" button, sloppy fit. i've looked up, , supposedly should dialogue box asking me state tolerance. have never seen box - i've tried , had colleagues come try it. version 13.1.2 x64. seems bug me, maybe i'm missing something. there way this? thank.s

marilyn, tolerance applies magic wand tool, , in options bar.  there no tolerance option when making selection work path.

 

illustrator has better tool photoshop turning bit map vector, called trace, better using that.

 

but if want use photoshop, having used magic wand tool, if version of photoshop supports it, follow refine edge tool clean selection before making work path.

 

or upload image can better idea.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
