Thread: Canon UFRII Shared to Windows - prints test page fine, but Excel/Word/PDF garbled

using ubuntu 12.04 server (64-bit).
canon imagerunner advance c2030 printer
using canon's driver (installed using steps found in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2021854)

test pages print fine server, mac clients , windows clients. however, if users try print excel spreadsheets or word documents (from mac or windows), printer spews out pages , pages, many of them having line of garbled symbols @ top.

printer connected via usb ubuntu box.

problem eerily similar https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...rs/+bug/994477, according report, should fixed in version of cups filters have (1.0.18-0).

cups error log has following lines in it, don't correspond directly timing or number of print jobs have been garbled:

i solved problem reinstalling everything. followed directions of http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2021854 in reverse, uninstalled cups, , rebooted measure. reinstalled cups , repeated directions again. believe must have missed step first time around, or made typo.

made sure client computers reinstalled printer drivers again, , seems working snappy.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
