Thread: wireless adapter emachines em250 not working on Ubuntu 12.10

hi,

new ubuntu , have 4 issues need expert guys here:

  1. i have installed ubuntu 12.10 without network connection on emachines em250 netbook. wifi not working. green light of wireless adapter not lit. tell me how find out wireless adapter , how , download driver.
  2. where device manager in ubuntu , how reach it?
  3. my impression after install ubuntu, netbook start working fast, atleast faster windows 7 major pain after 1 half year of installation. machine not working fast enough, used when win7 installed first time. can suggest how improve performance.
  4. how can improve performance of synaptic pointing device? extremely slow.

please forgive me if these questions tooo basic. thanks!

to find out wireless device rest of hardware, open terminal , type following command:

lspci
and paste output in next post. need know hardware system has before being able you.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
