What is a "Write_undoFree.metro" file?

it appeared few days ago.  exported layer arcmap, opened in illustrator cs6 , when it's saved in new format noticed additional files .metro extension.

 

write.metro

write_undofree.metro

 

any ideas?

seeing same thing on 1 of our illustrator's workstation.  adobe cs6, mac os 10.9.x.  started doing in last couple days.

 

saves illustrator files 5 extensions:

filename_read_undofree.metro

filename_read.metro

filename_write_undofree.metro

filename_write.metro

filename.ai

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
