Thread: Stop dist-upgrade / partial upgrade

so, without conscious act on part, 12.04 system prompting me partial upgrade on every run of update manager, makes me thing it's trying dist-upgrade. it's not want - want stay on 12.04. there way stop trying upgrade?

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 remove , 0 not upgraded.

dist-upgrade not upgrade 12.10. upgrade 12.10 have do-release-upgrade.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
