Thread: Changed printer, printing works, simple scan says scanner

had hp 5250, broke, bought hp 6525, removed 5250, added 6525, prints fine, simple scan says no scanner available. sane-find-scanner finds printer:

any ideas? thanks.

i assume using version of hplip ubuntu installs. if so, therein lies problem. recommendation go hplip site , download hplip there. purge existing hplip , install 1 downloaded. should solve problem. has me , have been using hp multifunction printers years. think ubuntu, reason, configures hplip package without scanner support.

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
