i running linux mint 13, 64-bit cinnamon version.

i've been trying nvidia driver 295.59 running on machine.

in terminal, get:

installed version: 295.59; latest available version: 310.32;
latest driver file:
ftp://download.nvidia.com/xfree86/li..._64-310.32.run.

295.59 supports card, okay, first had lot of problems x, wouldn't boot in, boot 640 res, reinstalled x , reinstalled driver , i'm here.

i'm stuck in gnome classic desktop environment , have cinnamon, won't boot cinnamon , when open x-server following:

you not appear using nvidia x driver. please edit x configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` root), , restart x server.

sudo nvidia-xconfig replies this:

using x configuration file: "/etc/x11/xf86config".
backed file '/etc/x11/xf86config' '/etc/x11/xf86config.backup'
new x configuration file written '/etc/x11/xf86config'

i want cinnamon , run tf2, appreciated.

you have optimus/hybrid graphics. check output of lspci:

lspci | grep -i vga

if see both intel , nvidia gpu, need purge nvidia driver installed, delete /etc/x11/xorg.conf , reboot. if graphics working normally, can proceed install bumblebee: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/bumblebee
