Thread: Root: Authentication failed

i have problem. when type in root password, message: authentication failed. 100% sure type correct password, works when use log in. user of device. can me?

here 1 possibility:
1. @ login screen, press ctrl+alt+f1 console.
2. log in there.
3. check if ".iceauthority" owned you:

code:

ls -al .iceauthority

4. if isn't (but possibly root), change you:

code:

sudo chown username:username .iceauthority

5. switch login screen pressing ctrl+alt+f7 or f8
6. better take @ permissions on ~/.xauthority, too. gets changed when ~/.iceauthority gets changed. same fix applies.
7. try again log in.
