Thread: big trouble installing ubuntu 12.4 and uefi

i've got asus laptop uefi
i'm trying reinstall ubuntu 12.4 via usb, procedure stops after grub screen.
if choose (install ubuntu) screen turn black , pc stops.
how can solve problem?

dual boot or single os of ubuntu?

either way, must make sure secure boot disabled, , must boot usb in uefi mode if wish install in mode. however, talking grub screen, have installed ubuntu , unable boot it, or mean boot screen may see when running usb?

NIK SELECTIVE TOOL INTERMITTANT FAILURE.

ref: win7-64 /ps cs6 /google-nik collection.   after working "a time", select brush option in nik plugin, & when image "re-opens" in ps, plugin has selected ps brush tool, & can paint on effect i'd created, selective tool interface fails open, & there's no way apply or discard effect. at point ps "hung", waiting command either apply, or discard brush effect, can't done without selective tool interface; , way out, ctrl/alt/del close photoshop-- & lose work!  (results in ps appscrash result). the selective tool folder contained selectivepalette.8li file, along seltoolinst.cfg (instructional script tool??), , hdrefexpro2.jsx file. nik told me hdrefexpro2.jsx file did not belong there, & delete it, , sent me seltoolinst.cfg file replace existing one; , fixed problem short time! now works awhile, fails.---wont open either brush command, or automate. i check folder, & "something" has placed/re-placed deleted  hdrefex...
