How can I fill parted circle with two colors?

i drawed circle ellipse tool.
and drawed path in middle of circle
to 2 halfs:

 

 

then tried fill each half of circle with
a different color: choosed color of swatches
and dragged , dropped 1 half of circle.
but whole circle , not half where
i dropped filled color.
i saw in book there colored fields
at swatches bottom right area of the
colors white/uncolored , used

in book. don't have such symbols @ swatches.

how can problem solved?

you should able use live paint, or can select line (make sure long enough) , object>divide objects below, 2 independent half circles fill.
