Adobe Premiere Elements 10 - missing and relinking files

i have adobe premiere elements 10 , hoping can please me issue having unlinked files.

 

the problem:  somehow files in adobe premiere elements organizer have lost link w/ originals.  whether manually search or allow premiere elements search, unable relink files.  thought had original file structure camera (canon vixia; file structure avchd - bdmv - stream - there files).  in original file structure .xmp files (not .mts files there are)  honest , computer files did rather disorganized w/ multiple copies of things (i having issues w/ converting files w/ mac, , used duplicate finder find duplicates year ago , deleted thought multiple copies of things).  left project alone, , trying reorganize videos , make dvd.

 

the goal:  relink files

 

the importance:  links except 4-5 months worth of videos.  happen videos of 2nd child's birth (her first moments in hospital, first bath, first christmas, first everything!)  extremely important me find files , relink them. 

 

what i've done:  manually searched mac, backup drive , cloud backup.  no luck.  had adobe premiere elements search - no luck.  have used mac search function looking key words , later file name (which shows in adobe premiere elements organizer - has little yellow question mark prompting me relink files - can't find original link to).

 

fingers crossed:  can tell me there can these .xmp files relink them?  can done @ all?  premiere elements organizer shows picture of video - not blank gray screen - pulling these images if don't exist on computer somehow?

 

 

i've learned lesson on keeping original files separate, please me save , preserve daughter's precious first memories!

if have not already, right click thumbnail in elements organizer, select show file info, far right column , under information header.

look location , see if tells original thumbnail located.

 

if gives clues, stop there , let know happened. if not, please continue reading post.

 

 

am correct, have premiere elements 10 mac , work elements organizer 10 well?

 

are saying cannot find on computer hard drive originals went 4 -5 months worth of videos? find in place should .xmp files? need files .mts file extension. .xmp informational files. on did cleaning files , deleted .mts files?

 

let go on exploratory mission...open 1 of projects (project.prel files) missing media, press skip first "where file....?" message. project display colorful media offline images in media , timeline. percentage of files appear missing based on colorful media offline display? there no images remained linked? if 1 has remained link, find in project media, right click it, select properties, , path file there. hope find one, others may be.

 

this may not matter of deleted files. may have renamed source media files , folder moved them around.

 

please review , let know review revealed of situation.
