Thread: gedit strange behavior

just installed gedit on old "mostly xfce" system. history: started out kubuntu 12.04, on time unity installed & uninstalled, gnome, gnome classic, of unessential components of have been uninstalled , machine has been happily running xfce desktop (with xfwm, lightdm, etc) still kde applications including dolphin, kate, kile, konsole.

when select text in gedit, either mouse or shift-arrow on keyboard, instead of being highlighted text disappears. it's not being deleted, "whited-out", because can still cut-paste or copy-paste invisible text (and becomes visible again).

tried starting gedit konsole window , these error messages starts up:

no additional errors reported while opening, creating, editing or closing files.

ideas means & need install (or uninstall) fix it?

what theme using? cover gtk3?
