Thread: Why is the gui so unresponsive!

hi guys, hoping steer problem is.

have installed ubuntu 13.04 on work laptop os play with.

laptop beast elitebook 8570w, intel i7, 32gb memory , nvidia quadro t2000m.

strange thing performance appalling. when click firefox waits ~ 10 seconds before opening.

if change tty , run apt-get update takes age retrun prompt.


holding things i've no idea what. not swapping, , running top doesnt show running on 8 virtual cores.

guess not video card, on text tty slow. running benchmark returns fast result, unresponsive start.

windows runs nice , fast, i'm stumped.

thoughts?? should downgrade v12?

glance @ .xsessionèerrors & xorg.0.log find possible usefull warnings/errors.
sure quadro recognized ? (watch system settings)
should use latest nvidia driver (319) xorg-edgers ppa & latest mesa (9.1.1 or 9.2)
