Thread: Kubuntu 12.04 x64 will not boot after install
kubuntu 12.04 x64 not boot after install
hi, all.
have following situation:
on 64-bit system.
have brand new hard drive.
have installed windows 7 on first partition on hard drive.
trying install kubuntu 12.04 next windows.
kubuntu installer seems install fine, when boot this:
error: no such partition
grub rescue>
means can boot neither kubuntu nor windows. i've googled bit. i've found out (url=http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1359802]here[/url]) can restore windows boot loader booting kubuntu live cd , doing this:
the above allows me boot windows, nice , all, doesn't me linux.code:sudo apt-get install lilo sudo lilo -m /dev/sda mbr
i've tried restore grub booting kubuntu live cd , using gui tool "boot-repair" (and doing "recommended repair"). didn't help. brought error message "error: no such partition".
have (presumably) functioning kubuntu installation, cannot boot it. can me set grub can linux?
in advance!
how large new hard drive? , how did partition. have had issues large / (root) partitions. suggest 25gb / , use remainder /home or preferred data partition(s). if dual booting windows ntfs shared data partition have. best not write windows system partition, shared data. , set windows system partition read only.
