Thread: Instaling Xubuntu over existing Ubuntu install?

i xubuntu , prefer regular ubuntu/unity setup. problem is, have computer runs ubuntu lot of stuff set don't want have reinstall. want have xfce instead of unity, keep rest of installation.

now, i'm aware 1 can install xfce or xubuntu-desktop repositories, problem not same regular xubuntu installation use on laptop. packages don't come same themes, keyboard shortcuts, etc. suppose configure of myself, shouldn't of hassle.

second problem have computer set 2 monitors. works without hitch in ubuntu, xubuntu doesn't seem support multiple screens out of box. i've worked several solutions (such arandr), nothing has been satisfactory. since works fine under unity, can't xfce use same drivers control screens somehow? necessary software on machine.

other odd wallpaper issue have 2 screens i've not had issues arandr.

install xubuntu-desktop remove ubuntu-desktop files.

code:
sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purexubuntu

sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

they not same regular xubuntu installation use on laptop
bits mean?

it's entirely possible you'd able backup , copy configuration changes you've done across clean install.
