Thread: Error in Dual-Boot Win 7 and Ubuntu 12.10

hello ubuntu community,
let me start general low-down of "materials" have here:
  • windows 7 home edition
  • plot boot manager (because bios not want boot usb)
  • ubuntu 12.10 downloaded straight site.

okay, did downloaded universal usb installer put .iso file onto flashdrive , make bootable. downloaded plot boot manager because bios let me boot hdd or cd/dvd drive. let me have dual-booted ubuntu , windows 7 before no problems, don't see i'm doing wrong. okay after iso on usb, restarted computer , booted usb. came opened ubuntu screen says: "try ubuntu" , "install ubuntu". clicked on install ubuntu , gave me 3 options (really 5 let me select 3 of them.):
  1. install ubuntu inside of windows 7
  2. replace windows ubuntu
  3. also, use custom partions

don't have computer technical knowledge, have programming knowledge though. because of this, selected install ubuntu inside of windows. went dos-like screen (outputting doing) showed ubuntu loading dots. (the 5 dots start lighting up) still on "dos" screen werent there whole time. computer laptop if info needed, automatically restarted , went selection screen asks me if want boot windows 7 or plot boot manager. there no sign of ubuntu anywhere. if go windows , go uninstall programs list, ubuntu listed inside there.

thanks,
bresser.
