Thread: Some thoughts on Ubuntu

for 1 thing, much.

however, after trying out on live usb on machine year , finding performance vastly better on vaio 2 years ago, wonder whether ubuntu's marketing doesn't need take more account fact lot of people using linux work older machines.

ubuntu stylish , lot of fun when machine strong enough throw bit other gnome 3 de's feels heavy , awkward on lower spec machines.

now, "ah there lighter alternatives both within ubuntu family , without". , true. however, many new users still pass through ubuntu , ubuntu concept , forms first impression. saying goes: don't second chance make first impression.

might increase positive feedback ubuntu if potential xubuntu or lubuntu users directed towards 1 of flavours @ moment of initial contact ubuntu concept (triaging).

few thoughts.

well, they're trying preinstalled on new machines, point of view, don't think have problems machine being sold new ok it.
yes, should put links @ least official derivatives on download page, agree. people work out how powerful machine is, or refurbishing old machines, have heard of them anyway (i hope).

thing ubuntu's marketing aiming give 1 consistent image of distro, without customization talk inherent linux. unfortunately.
