Thread: ubuntu usb/cd

hi

haven't used ubuntu several year, few days ago started picking again, have few problem, did not have few years ago,

first problem have is, when make bootable cd ubuntu wont boot, have tried can, still same problem, did try in defferent computer still same problem.

secod problem have usb, same problem get.
have used software people recommend here in forum, still getting same problem almost, " cant find image " etc ...

have windows 8 installed, problem.

windows 8 whole different way. uses uefi not bios , uses gpt partitioning not old mbr(msdos) partitioning.

did download 64 bit version? have turned secure boot off , fast boot off?

system have major issues. video , ultrabook or small ssd?

need use 64 bit version of 12.10 , uefi menu boot flash drive in uefi mode. way install in uefi mode.
systems need quick boot or fast boot turned off in uefi settings. vital systems. best backup efi partition , windows partition first.
use windows disk tools shrink windows main partition, not create new partitions, if installing on same drive.

as of 12.04.2, possible install on uefi systems secure boot enabled (using signed versions of shim, grub, , linux kernel). set ubuntu (desktop, alternate, , server) , edubuntu images due pressures of time; expect enable across entire ubuntu family 12.04.3. details:

managed leave signing key out of database that's used validate binaries

problem appears affect ubuntu 12.10 , other samsung models. ubuntu bug report includes posts users reporting problem affects 300e5c, np700z5c, np700z7c , np900x4c series laptops.
