Thread: crash when trying to update

running dell inspiron 6400, ubuntu 12.04 lts favorable except when things change...

"update manager" (using lxde) shows have 20 updates apply... when apply them via gui, crashes message:

dpkg interrupted, must manually run
'sudo dpkg - -configure -a ' correct problem

crashes screen of "[ 101.684059] [,c1577214.] syscall_call+0x7/oxb " gibberish

fine.
run "sudo dpkg - -configure -a" in terminal runs while , gives:

"segmentation fault"

computer otherwise seems run fine can't upgrade/update address wifi problem...

advice on how troubleshoot this?

the data see @ crash looks dmesg output
assume since command worked, in tried run means typed sudo lower case s, posted capital s

guessing crashed while updating 1 program required run command, may able fix live usb , running command after chroot-ing system, not sure how works, worth googling, may knows more type or issue idea
