Shooting Tethered with Canon 5D Mark III In LR5 and Maverick 10.9.2

i have shot tethered through various versions of lightroom various cameras mixed results. each new version of lr, seems shooting tethered becomes more prone crashes , in lr 5, have found transfer of images slow unusable. had shoot used lr 5 first time. transfer of images slow that, after trying disk doctor repair disk , restarting computer several times, switched lr 4 , found transfer, while still prone odd temperments, much faster lr 5. while lr 4 seems better lr 5 shooting tethered, still tempermental. if camera sits more few minutes without activity, lr no longer accepts images camera. have shut down lr , restart it, making sure have camera off until lr relaunched , tethering turned on once again. if in wrong order, doesn't work. during shoot, maddening have restart lr 4.

 

any suggestions making lr 4 less tempermental , lr 5 functional when tethering? , there way contact adobe problems having?
