Thread: Partitioning Query

i began using ubuntu yesterday , love far. mother interested in switching on ubuntu keep small portion of hard-drive partitioned windows can use itunes (she has ipad kind of tethers apple eco-system). know how partition hard-drive don't know how partitions work here basic question: since windows slow (and possibly infected) if partition hard-drive can windows "side" of partition affect or otherwise negatively impact performance on ubuntu "side" of partition? please don't techy answers, i'm not terrible computers still learning in area. thanks!

my wife not use itunes, has never connected iphone nor ipad computer. have backed photos ubuntu direct connection, have seen lot of users trying , having issue music on iphone , linux.

virus' not issue, designed modifying windows , windows software. windows not see linux partitions. nasty virus erased entire drive, partition table or mbr of course cause problems.
in linux can virus has spoof thinking want , giving root access. cannot run program in background cannot past sudo file ownership , permissions.
