Thread: 'Failed to load session "ubuntu" - Unmount??


hello ubuntu's

have partitioned (windows 7/ubuntu 12.04)system on new laptop (dec 2012) believing in ubuntu finding way now.

1.when installed gimp - not choose view pdf files adobe reader.
a. read threads , tried include f% (with sudo command open file) after exec line in acrodeader(???).desktop file in usr/share/applications folder fix problem.
i. adobe reader still not choice when *.pdf opened through thunderbird. saw backup created in usr/share/applications folder , not delete it.
ii. saw usr/share/applications folder permissions wrr , beginners wisdom sudo chmod folder 754
iii. trying open adobe - not. froze , rebooted.
2. when trying login ubuntu got 'failed load session "ubuntu"
a. booted in recovery mode , tried instructions:
i. recovering ubuntu , install ubunto gave errors.
ii. fsck.ext4 uuid=... unable resolve
iii. sudo touch/forcefsck - read file system

well need more. read maybe should unmount , continue novice bit out of depth here.

can me fix own mess created.
