Thread: Problems after migrating Ubuntu to another drive

i had failing drive, copied of directories under / (with exception of /home, /media, /proc, /lost+found...) drive. target drive had system installed, overwrote wanted keep /home on it.

after doing this, rebuilt grub , boots expected except fact drops low graphics mode after failing detect display (drivers?), input devices, etc.

have idea of might have happened during move?

thanks!
ld

many settings stored in hidden files in /home

didn't copy on /home, settings old system -- , perhaps in wrong format.

also, if didn't delete in /etc, example, files old install still around. ubuntu has few configuration files used if found -- not part of basic install. think xorg.conf 1 of those...
