Thread: Creating my own /Usepackage in latex

hi guys, searched on forums , far of solutions have been there (but dont speak super ubuntu dont know how go doing steps)
use latex things if can, while launguage based articles not bad, writing out physics labs can incredibly long due sub , super scripts, (along partial differentiators, gradiants laplacians, lagrangian notions ect ect ect ect ) dont want write anymore. want work smart not hard.

question is:

how create style file in latex (sty file) can write \newcommand ........
mathmatical notions,
name file (ie shortcuts)

, instead of writing them every time in preamble of latex file, write

/usepackage{shortcuts}

have googled , searched around few "tutorials" none seem work. other tellimg me write
code:
sudo mkdir /latex/tex/latexy/maortex file/another sub file/instert useless subfile here/ foo
and repeating cp infront of again. (why have foo file? have long standing mental appreciation foo fighters? )

see tutorials calling on miktex (i cant seem find in software center or along lines)
others save file , load it. (assuming just...works.. that)

anyways, appreciate help, im converting on ubuntu , im getting used of this. trying learn as can , seems there billion things being tossed @ me @ once.

if running ubuntu, first need install latex system such texlive (miktex windows); can install texlive synaptic or ubuntu software center. want install texmaker or texstudio edit , compile latex files. prefer texstudio.

next thing need open terminal , give following commands:
code:
cd ~ mkdir -p ~/texmf/tex sudo texhash ~/texmf
now, in ~/texmf/tex directory should put shortcuts.sty file, , latex able find no matter directory .tex file in.
