Thread: "Searching for Boot Record from" after Ubuntu 12.10 install from USB

hi, have following problem:

had windows, got sick of breaking down. friend showed me ubuntu , after using off live usb few days, made decision install hdd , replace windows altogether.

ubuntu 12.10 usb, clicked install , went through whole process exception seemed have frozen after sending me home screen, cursor still rolling. rebooted , tried again. , again. still same. figured maybe that's way of saying it's done, after third try, booted without usb see if harddrive install had worked. after boot table message:

"searching boot record ide-0..ok" , hangs.

way can use ubuntu if load live usb. if it's not in, stuck @ error above.

how repair this, appreciated!

if did not complete install of grub may help. if not full install not. though worked live install, did verify download md5sum? how ram system have?
