Thread: Harddrive crash - so it finally happened.

hi all!

i'm running triple-boot computer win7/lubuntu/crunchbang on old, yet (up until now) sturdy laptop (hp pavilion dv4000) made , bought around 2005/2006. harddrive equally old.

these last couple of days, i've experienced pretty nasty hang-ups, freezes , "read-only filesystem" errors. stupid was, thought maybe harddrive related, thought plausible explanation software related.

wrong.

i'm running backtrack live see if there possibility recover data. checking file manager, no hdd-partitions turned up. did blkid check vital signs, found none.
i'm planning try , connect hdd usb-ide/sata cable, i'll have borrow 1 other day.

doc, options?

tl;dr : i'm stupid , didn't up, hdd seems dead - do?

edit: i'm accessing partitions through lubuntu-partition, , i'm copying. let's hope lasts long enough me copied , backed up...
checks can confirm crash/hardware-error situation?
