Thread: xbmc server music not found on ps3 (video works fine)

hi guys,

i'm trying set media server ubuntu 12.10 can access ps3. if there better alternatives xbmc out there, i'm open using them; xbmc first came across.

couple questions...
first, how should configure ufw? have disable in order ps3 discover media server. tried allowing 2869/tcp , 1900/udp did not work (ps3 still not discover media server).

second, more importantly, when ps3 discover media server, video seems working fine. however, when select "music library" (on ps3), presented list of category folders: "genres," "albums," "artists," etc. etc. of these folders empty, despite library in xbmc being populated music (that is, can access music xbmc on pc)
these folders ("genres," "artists," etc) not exist anywhere on pc, , cannot find them within xbmc application. when accessed pc, xbmc's music directory tree organized same way i've organized music on filesystem; not have "genres," "artists," etc. organization ps3 tries use.

finally, when browsing videos on ps3, many (i estimate 40-60%) of folders show being named "-" (just single hyphen character). can still view contents of these folders fine, quite annoying, because requires me through dozens of folders before find file i'm looking (since can't see actual folder names). file names never victims of problem; applies directories. seems happen @ random; every time view directory tree, different, random subset of subbfolders have had names replaced "-" character.
