Thread: How to use the Grid function in 12.04 Gnome Classic-No effects

i'm using 12.04, gnome classic - no effects, because 1 best seems work old laptop.

now, there way use grid function? i've gone thru compizconfig, no matter combination of keys set, nothing. guess compiz not managing windows. how can tell if i'm using metacity? , if case, how can set grid function it? both keyboard , mouse drag&drop awesome. in fact, loved in unity 3d, , i'm missing them quite lot!

also, find can't seem able run gnome-classic (with effects). when try log in in mode, seems starting unity 2d.

thanks!!

the gnome classic - no effects session uses metacity.
if want use grid, login gnome classic session uses compiz.

check window manager using...
code:
sudo apt-get install wmctrl
then...
code:
wmctrl -m
you may need install proprietary driver run compiz depending on gfx card.
