Thread: Unable to boot into Ubuntu


hi guys, heres little back-story. dualboot windows 8 , ubuntu 12.10. use 2 partition on same hdd. ubuntu partition starting run low on memory, added ten gigs it. wont boot in ubuntu, says: error no such devie : 7802edf027ea234. decided restart computer , select "advanced boot options" or option that's that, , selected option "(recovery)" beside it. bunch of text came on screen, let it's thing, got message: alert! /dev/disk/by-uuid/7802edf027ea234 not exist dropping shell! (ash)

yeah, guys have advice? i'm complete noob ubunutu. read stuff grub, , checked grub folder windows 8 , it's empty.

each time partition modified (resized example, or moved) new uuid created grub menu need updated know new uuid. thats why error "no such device"

shell, run commands:
- sudo grub-install /dev/sda
- sudo update-grub

reboot normally, problem should gone
