Thread: still cannot get Internet access on Inspiron 1520 using 12.04 LTS

i've been using ubuntu week. tried install 12.04 lts 3 different times, have no wired or wireless connection. i've checked of forum posts. 10.04 worked fine, noticed end of life, , tried upgrade. still no internet afterwards.

during latest attempt:
did this, although there:

sudo mv b43 /lib/firmware

i did this, wasn't loaded:
sudo rmmod -f b43

tried this, got device or resource busy:
sudo rmmod -f ssb

try this, nothing until ctrl-c kill process:
sudo modprobe b43

rfkill list shows bluetooth, wifi , dell-bluetooth ... none blocked

lsmod not have b43

don't know else type here, new of user. if needed, can return 10.04; don't know means of next month. however, 12.04 cannot see internet @ all.
