Thread: Mediasmart HomeServer EX490 - NTFS Automount

hi all,

registered tonight, seemed place information!

i've spent few hours setting ubuntu on entirely interface-less homeserver. it's going great , i've gotten automount ntfs drives , partitions nicely.
however, if unplug drive , reboot - can no longer access server via vnc. issue since, in event of drive failure, i'd **** creek without paddle quickly.

i've looked @ various options getting darn thing continue boot process, no luck. if select restart power menu, pop out hot-swap drive, wait bit , try connect ; nothing happens.
put drive in; voilá, can connect.

here's fstab mounting line: uuid=7a21227c04d8de39 /media/data ntfs-3g defaults,windows_names,auto,nofail,locale=en_us.ut f8 0 0

i'm new @ stuff, hence why i'm using desktop version though it's server, because having interface helps me of functions want accomplish. regardless, shouldn't affect actual usage of thing.

need there no prompts or other naughty stuff during bootup, thing has no connected keyboard, no mouse, no option of connecting monitor.

please help, , if i've not made myself entirely clear, or ranted much, please let me know can try , make myself more clear.
