Thread: UEFI menu, duplicate entries

i've installed 12.0.4 alongside windows 8 on uefi based system.

boots linux fine menu , boots windows 8 if pick third option on menu - doesn't have sensible name

have lots of menu entries seem duplicates.

how can rid of duplicate entries , change oddly titled menu entry boot win 8

i should possibly point out in uefu boot settings in bios menu see 2 linux boot options , 2 windows boot options ties in fact info boot repair sees 2 partitons ( sda2 , sda3) boot entries on them

boot menu has these options:

ubuntu
advanced options ubuntu
windows uefi recovery bootmgfw.efi
windows boot uefi recovery
windows uefi recovery bootmgfw.efi sda3
windows uefi recovery sda3
windows eufi recovery lrsbootmgr.efi
windows boot uefi recoverry bootx64.efi
windows boot uefi recoverry bootx64.efi sda7
windows recovery environment (loader) (on /dev/sda3)
windows 8 (loader) (on /dev/sda5)
system setup


if can't rid of extras i'd rename "windows uefi recovery bootmgfw.efi" (item 3) windows 8

Some mp4 files not displaying correctly (CS6)

a week ago in premiere pro cs6 world. one day updated windows, next day few .mp4 video files opened in premiere pro, played fine well, except fact display has green (sometimes multicolour, solid green block) bars in lower third of screen. see screenshot below.   these same files open/display fine in after effects, photoshop , vlc- , quicktime players. i'd read fromyears ago windows updates causing this, removed 1 of therecent kb's no avail. i did install adobemediaencodertrial_64-6.0.3-mul-adobeupdate and dynamiclinkmediaserverretail-1.0.1-mul-adobeupdate and reverted quicktime 7.6 but nothing makes difference.   in end, formatted c:\, reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 64bit , downloaded/installed 260 updates , reinstalled cs6 (and aforementioned ame , dlms updates , qt7.6) it's still same problem.   also tried exporting (part of) 1 of these files, see if wasn't display problem: exported file same properties original has green bars.   what else can do?   thanks in advanc
