Thread: Help with Installing Ubuntu on a Preinstalled Windows 8 Lenovo Laptop

hello there,

first let me describe scenario.
latest lenovo laptop windows 8 preinstalled. tried disabling secureboot in bios, , secureboot enabled or disabled, windows 8 still booting. mean windows 8 installed legacy mode , not in efi mode?
next, have live usb drive 12.10 64bit on board, booted through it, installed alongside windows 8, in size selector allocated 60gb ubuntu, went well, until next reboot. after reboot gave secureboot fail error, disabled secureboot in bios , purged , reinstalled ubuntu same in previous way, , after reboot seemed nothing installed , pc booted straight windows 8. did following guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/uefi

tried booting live ubuntu , running boot-repair, ends saying there errors, url: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5600719/
when boot-repair working saw wubi, , previous attempt on installing, other person had tried installing wubi windows installers, scenario, give me idea messed up.

, regards!

if windows booted without secure boot on, good, many systems boot secure boot on , have install ubuntu signed versions. @ least have option not to.
still have modified uefi boot windows efi file. boot-repair has work around if problem

install of wubi not work uefi. if looks did install separate ntfs partitions can delete or combine or convert ntfs data partition should have anyway dual booting.
wubi not work on gpt partitioned drives or window 8 pre-installed.

grub4dos (which wubi uses) doesn't work gpt disks (required uefi)

lenovo thinkcentre m92p boots windows or redhat.

have issue have seen systems , not have simple solution. last line of bootinfo report.
locked-esp detected.

grub-efi fails install input/output error - locked efi

have not looked lately see if new solutions main solution backup efi partition, idea anyway. delete it, recreate gparted, format fat32, , add boot flag new efi partition , restore windows efi files. grub should able install efi folder , boot files. perhaps active protection (see below)?
