i have cd marked xp like. opening screen displays "ubuntu" while os loading, no version number. believe 11. when desktop opens see same default desktop xp called "bliss". start menu in same place. mean downloading , installing software done using exe process? if not how use software center programs not offered, open office suite opposed libre office default program? can use search bar in center this? type in "open office" or "open office/install"? if not how , find terminal? standard script(command line) installing ooo or software not in center? tried number of distros found of them complicated , not intuitive. xp @ least looks can understand. need complete , accurate info how use os. there number of programs use not in center. simple language in step format nice not mind trying new if understandable , related use. can go publishers web site , download/install in auto mode now? using gz file format in same way exe? solutions please.

i recommend throw xp cd in trash (since ubuntu 11.04 "end of life," obsolete, , completley unsupported) , download official current ubuntu release here: http://ubuntu.com

access terminal press control+alt+t or tap windows/super key , type "terminal."

if looking operating system looks xp , acts xp , runs exe files natively, recommend microsoft windows xp.
