Thread: Wireless gone missing after fresh Install


hello new ubuntu. installed 12.10 couple weeks ago getting system error msg regularly. display. wireless worked great. looked 12.04 lts. in process found edubuntu. since have 2 kids chose go edubuntu 12.04 lts. downloaded .iso. burned on dvd , ran it. dvd worked fine, liked system installed it. wireless working till time. once installed asked reboot did there no wireless after that.
wireless button (top right) shows no wireless connections, , 'wireless networks' button shadded cannot click it. says 'divice not managed' , 'disconnected'. hardware button shows wireless on. ran lspci command in terminal , got info

02:00.0 ethernet controller: broadcom corporation netlink bcm5784m gigabit ethernet pcie (rev 10)
04:00.0 network controller: intel corporation wifi link 5100

have gateway nv58 laptop. need help!

had similiar problems experiencing when first install ubuntu.

it's bad not aware of firstly going software sources>ubuntu software , selecting options listed immediatly after installation , going updates.

regardless. select open terminal or ctrl+alt+t

need put output of each of following.

since posted information lspci not need post that.

sudo lshw -class network
for last 1 above, put in password created upon initial install. when in terminal asked "password user," enter password. not worry, password not visible.

use 'code' tags of above. these "#" see.
