Thread: Update Java

i need update build number of java past 1.7_0_09 install jaikoz audio tagger (i know there other taggers puddletag, has other options need). when check version following:

code:

:~$ java -version  java version "1.6.0_27"  openjdk runtime environment (icedtea6 1.12.3) (6b27-1.12.3-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)  openjdk 64-bit server vm (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)

using instructions here tried update openjdk-7-jre version number seems stay @ 1.6.0.27.

if correctly can ubuntu software center. type in search "java" (without quotes) , should first in results. hope helps.
