Thread: ubuntu on usb w/"persistence" is awful slow anyway to make it faster?

hello everyone! name urez2beat , i'm sick of windows , switvhing ubuntu 13.04. have installed on 4gb
flash drive using unetbootin. have "persistence " file , runs slow out. told would, due
fact i'm writing , reading same usb flash drive , that's way is. know linux there's way have persistence file , keep speed well. unfortunetly being total newbie linux not sure have insure speed. example possible keep persistence file on seperate flash drive or since makes sense reading , writing same flash drive
slow process soooooooo appreciated sincerely urez2beat

i suggest doing full install usb. need 2 usb, 1 load iso , unetbootin, , other installation target. believe way better using persistence. there discussions on type of usb drive before, , of brand not in doing persistence or full installation. sandisk line works well, have installed 13.04 on sandisk usb drive, , run on old acer aspire zg5, , works fast. 4gb not enough really, need @ least 8gb, go 16 or 32 gb if can. computer/desktop/laptop plays important role well. try use usb 2.0 port @ least, faster on usb 3.0. maybe can utilise i394, or external sata. doing external installation on external hdd works same way well, , faster.

graphics card can cause problem. nvidea common problem, particularly if old.

there other type of *buntu, such xubuntu, , lubuntu. xubuntu lighter ubuntu, , lubuntu lightest. not fancy looking if concern.

there's no problem in reading/writing same usb, matters read/write speed. if use old drive 3.0 mb/s write, way slower phased out 5400 rpm hdd. try getting new 1 fast, if usb speed slow. again, sandisk brand has been proven work full installation.

try giving out spec, whether desktop or laptop.
